TRAIN IT VS TRUST IT AT THE PLATE
Game time is compete time, not think time. At UP17, we strive to educate our players on trusting their hitting and pitching mechanics at game time. As simple of a concept as it may seem, it is one of the biggest hurdles a young player must overcome. To help simplify that process with players, we use “Train It” vs “Trust It.”
Our training time is intentional skill building. The player works on a single mechanical skill at a time. During this time, results DO NOT matter, ball flight does not matter, all that matters is the accomplishment of the single skill. After reps of skill building we transition to “Trust It”. This is the player’s time to concentrate on the baseball only and let their swing fly.
Hitting a baseball is an extremely difficult skill, especially when a player is thinking through their mechanics. We want to give our players the tools to succeed during the games by “Trusting It” – clear everything else and go hit the ball hard like you know you can. Educate yourself on separating “Train It” vs “Trust It” time with UP17.
